On the occasion of the Vidarbha Mahotsav organized by Vidarbha Sahayog Mandal, it gives the Executive Committee immense pleasure to present this souvenir to you. In Pune city renowned for its industrial, educational, and historical significance — many brothers from Vidarbha settled here for employment and business opportunities. With the aim of promoting social welfare and mutual harmony, Vidarbha Sahayog Mandal was established in 1968. A few years after its founding, the idea of having a cultural and support center for the Mandal in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad emerged. Efforts to acquire land began, and success was achieved in March 1990, when the Mandal received a plot of approximately 10,000 sq. ft. in Nigdi Pradhikaran Sector 25. On 21st March 1991, after paying the full amount, a nameplate was officially placed on the site. Subsequently, the Bhoomipujan (groundbreaking ceremony) was performed by Member of Parliament Shri Vidyadhar Gokhale, MLA Shri Gajanan Dalu Guruji, and Mayor Shri Vilasrao Lande. Thus, the foundation stone of the Mandal was laid in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. The residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Bhosari, Pradhikaran, Nigdi, Akurdi, and Sangvi, originally from Vidarbha, came together to form a strong organization that gave momentum to the Mandal’s activities. The first phase of construction began in 1996, and the housewarming ceremony was held on 5th February 1998. A temporary accommodation facility for students was arranged in the Mandal’s cultural building. Later, the committee began registering patron members and raising funds through various programs. Through these efforts, the Mandal carried out several social and cultural initiatives under the guidance of distinguished personalities from various fields. Likewise, under the Mandal’s patronage, women members established the Sadalaxmi Mahila Nagari Sahakari Patsanstha in 2001, providing financial assistance (in the form of loans) to thousands of needy women.
